My Jack Russell Story:
My husband and I took our two Jack Russells, Gus and Murphy, to dog obedience classes (I strongly recommend it). During the first class the instructor stated that barking dogs would not be tolerated. Thinking of our vocal pair, my husband and I wondered how we were supposed keep them quiet. When we brought Gus and Murphy to the next class, they immediately started barking. The instructor handed us each a plastic lemon full of lemon juice. We were to say "quiet" and if they continued to bark or whine we would squirt lemon juice in their mouth. It took a few times for them to get the idea, but we have found it very effective.
